Gate 13 on Barker Street is your primary entry to the N18 multi-storey car park. This hub offers casual 2/4-hour stays, all-day bookings, and permits for staff, students, and visitors of UNSW Sydney.

All vehicles must either hold a valid vPermit or an active CellOPark session in marked bays.

Planning your visit

Casual bookings require payment on arrival via CellOPark or the pay-by-plate meters. Permit parking is enforced between 7:30am and 7:30pm on weekdays. Outside these times, parking is free in designated bays.

Gate 13 arrival

Barker Street Parking Station (N18) is signposted at Gate 13, Barker Street, UNSW Sydney, just off Southern Drive and minutes from the Business School precinct.

Accessing the deck

Visitor parking is currently staged on level 1B/1C while the top deck remains closed. Follow the CellOPark/pay-by-plate instructions posted at the lift wells.

Support & accessibility

Estate Management handles repairs and security requests 24/7 via +61 2 9385 5111, and accessible bays are marked adjacent to lift lobbies.

Permits

Short-term 2P/4P bays and all-day spots use CellOPark. Standard annual parking passes cost $2,006 (staff) or $77.15 fortnight via salary sacrifice and auto-billings are processed around the 25th–26th of each month.

Barker Street Parking Station (N18) is listed at Gate 13, Barker Street, UNSW Sydney, Kensington NSW 2033. The entire precinct sits along Southern Drive with direct links to the Business School and nearby student housing.

Casual visitor pricing

All casual visitors must either start a session through the CellOPark app or pay at the plate meter before entering. The rates are consistent across Barker Street (Gate 14) and Botany Street (Gate 11) car parks while the top deck is temporarily closed, so the visitor bays live on level 1B/1C.

2H / 4H bays

$7.75/hour

Available outside annual permit bays for short, on-campus visits.

All-day casual

$15.50 + $4.75/hr

First two hours charged at $15.50, then $4.75 per hour (up to 12 hours total).

Staff day passes

$8 / day

Pay-as-you-go parking for staff starts at $8/day with reserved spaces from $24/day.

Upgrade

Planned expansion for the Barker Street station

UNSW Estate Management is progressing the N18 upgrade to add three new storeys, rooftop solar, EV chargers, and next-generation end-of-trip facilities. The expanded station will relieve local street congestion while the new signalised intersection at Barker Street and Southern Drive (Gate 14) keeps pedestrians safe.

Three additional storeys will add roughly 500 spaces, taking the station to ~1,400 bays.
The expansion introduces rooftop solar, EV fast chargers, and new end-of-trip amenities for cyclists and drivers.
A new signalised intersection at Barker Street and Southern Drive (Gate 14) will improve safety for everyone entering the campus.

Community feedback is open through late 2025 with a survey, email, and phone line managed by Estate Management’s urban planning team.
